At RIMES, capacity building is a key strategy for supporting the establishment of sustainable end to end early warning systems in the region.
The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), the global body overseeing tsunami early warning sets the standards in end-to-end early warning system development. As part of our regional capacity enhancement strategy, RIMES follows Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) standards for early detection, evaluation and preparation for multi-hazards among Member States in Africa and Asia.
